Duck stamps are often out of stock at East Hampton area post offices. You can instead get one instantly online. Per the US Fish and Wildlife Service, you can order online and get a receipt to print or show on your phone in the field until the physical stamp arrives in the mail. They are sold by the states, and NY does not participate for some reason, but since it is federal you can pick any state from the links provided by the US FWS below. I picked Mississippi, and it has worked fine the last two years.

The Post Office in Montauk has them. The others should, but maybe they sell out?
